A well known singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen passed away on Friday at the age of 82.
His death was confirmed by Cohen’s label, Sony Music Canada on the singer’s Facebook page.
“It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away. We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries. A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief,” the statement said.
Cohen last album was released last month with title, “You Want It Darker”.
During his musical journey, he had given many biggest hits and won several awards. Some of the famous songwriters of his era were Bob Dylan and Paul Simon.
Most of the Cohen songs includes theme of love and faith, despair and exaltation, solitude and connection, war and politics.
Cohen had recorded around 2,000 songs in the studio. His best-known song, “Hallelujah,” was written for a 1984 album that didn’t gain popularity but later it got hit among the people by Jeff Buckley.
He stepped into the Hollywood at the age of 33. His album was never placed among the top 10 list until he was in his 70s.
He used to live with his son and daughter.
