Patna railway station tops free Wi-Fi usage in India, mostly to watch porn

 

Patna: Patna railway station tops internet search using the free Wi-Fi facility, however the maximum search was to watch porn, said a railway official on Monday.

More than any other railway station in the country, where free Wi-Fi service was launched, and the Patna railway station is on the top in the country for using internet search, mostly search for porn sites, said an official of RailTel, a public sector undertaking.

After Patna, Jaipur railway station became second to use free internet service, followed by Bengaluru and New Delhi as third and forth station respectively. Patna railway station is being the first station in Bihar to have free Wi-Fi service. Patna railway station is one of the crowded with more than 200 trains passing through it every day.

As per RailTel officials, users are using free Wi-Fi for YouTube at Patna station, followed by Wikipedia. Porn sites have been watched and downloaded by the people at Patna station.

Presently, RailTel is giving 1 GB Wi-Fi at the Patna station but planning to expand up to 10 GB. Free Wi-Fi facility was introduced last month at Patna, beside with three more railway stations, across country. Stations include Patna in Bihar, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Ranchi in Jharkhand.

Free Wi-FI service has been unveiled at 23 railway stations in India till now. The government is planning to launch Wi-Fi facility at all main railway stations in India in the three years said Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.

He further added that by this year end, free Wi-Fi service will be introduced at 100 main railway stations in India. We will achieve our target of 400 railway stations in three years. Once in place, it will be the largest public Wi-Fi system in the world.

The service was commissioned by RailTel, in alliance with Google, for providing high-speed internet to passengers. Mumbai Central was the first railway station in the nation to enjoy free Wi-Fi service. Google India and Indian Railways joined hands last year to launch high-speed Wi-Fi network at 400 stations in the nation.
