It was huge responsibility to create web series on Subhash Chandra Bose, says Hansal Mehta

Producer and filmmaker Hansal Mehta is busy promoting his upcoming web series ‘Bose: Dead/Alive’ starring Rajkummar Rao. Hansal Mehta interacted with media on Friday in Mumbai, in media interaction, Mehta stated that it was huge responsibility for him and his team to create web series based on Subhash Chandra Bose life.

When asked Mehta was it difficult to produce web series based on Bose, he said, “I feel more than difficult was challenge to create something like this on the life of historical figure like Subhash Chandra Bose who played major role in forming Azad Hind Sena and in our country’s freedom struggle. I think it’s a huge responsibility as well to create historical drama on his life because today’s generation doesn’t know much about him and our country’s freedom struggle. We have tried to create it in an engaging and entertaining manner so that we can connect with them”

Hansal Mehta has worked with Rajkummar Rao in critically acclaim films like ‘Aligarh’, ‘Shahid’ and ‘City Lights’ and now they are teaming up again with ‘Bose: Dead/Alive’, talking about working with Rajkummar, Mehta said, “I have been working with Rajkummar for almost seven years now. I don’t think we have another actor like Rajkummar in this generation. I am fortunate that I making movies in a generation where we have actor like Rajkummar Rao”

Talking about content and tagline of ‘Bose: Dead/Alive, Mehta said, “We have given to tagline to its title as ‘The Man The Legend The Mystery’ so through this series, we have tried to incorporate his human side and the great work he has done for our country and the mysteries and theories revolving his plane crash. This web series has elements of thriller, mystery and drama and we tried to present it in an entertaining manner”

‘Bose: Dead/Alive’ traces the journey of the freedom fighter from being an introvert to a brave nationalist and a rebel. The show will be released on ALTBalaji, which is backed by Ekta Kapoor.

It has been directed by Pulkit and has Hansal Mehta as its creative producer, with whom Rajkummar has already done some remarkable work in films like Shahid, CityLights and Aligarh.

The web-series also stars Sanjay Gurbaxani, Surendra Rajan, Patralekha, Naveen Kasturia and Anna Ador, and it  will begin streaming from November 20.
