Production companies and directors have decided to shut down all the film during the time of Coronavirus outbreak from March 19, 2020, up till March 31, 2020. Even the Vice president of Indian Film and TV producers Council (IFTPC) JD Majethia, stated that all the associations on Indian Film Industry have decided to shut the shooting programs of TV serials, Films, and web shows till March 31, 2020, in the interest of the filmmakers, society, and the country. Further, the meeting held on Sunday among the media industry regulatory bodies arrived at this decision unanimously.
The safety and health of our colleagues are of paramount importance, so the decision of suspension is accurate and fair for all. The shootings of web series, TV shows, and Films put on hold for the period between March 19, 2020, and March 31, 2020, is the need of an hour, and we fully support it, Chief executive Officer of Producers Guild of India said. He also stated that in the upcoming days, we would discuss this issue in detail and discuss the modalities of the postponement of the production plans. We will monitor the situation regularly and take further decisions accordingly.
Not only shooting of movies, web and TV series are put on hold, but various even also had adverse effects, including award functions and interviews. The outbreak dooms the Film industry, and the filmed released last Friday are encountering hefty losses. Even it also affected the box office collection of two films by veteran artists, these films include Irfan Khan’s and Kareena Kapoor’s Angreji Medium. Some other upcoming movies that put shooting on hold are Laal Singh Chadda starring Aamir khan and Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor.
